Andrew is a 17 year old percussionist from Preston and has been playing percussion since he was 14. He has recently taken A levels in Music, Music Technology, and Music Performance at Runshaw College, and every week attends the Junior Royal Northern College of Music where he receives percussion tuition from Ian Forgrieve and conducting tuition from Ewa Strusinska. In Autumn 2017 Andrew will begin his studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire with Adrian Spillett, with the hope of becoming a professional artist and performer.
Andrew has a number of high profile performances under his belt, such as performing at the 'Educate Awards' ceremony at Liverpool Cathedral in 2015 and 2016, a solo marimba recital at the United Nations Building in New York, a xylophone solo with the Central Band of the RAF at the RNCM Day of Percussion, and a concerto at Birmingham Symphony Hall as part of the Music For Youth finals to list a few. And in March 2016 Andrew won the Percussion Category of the BBC Young Musician 2016 competition and became one of five musicians to reach the Semi-final.
Andrew also has a passion for teaching. He returns to his former high school weekly to give one-to-one percussion and drum kit tuition and run the 12 player percussion ensemble. Alongside this he has given group samba and African percussion sessions to numerous primary and secondary school children.
