Each Acoustic Percussion product is built at our manufacturing facility in Liverpool, England. With quality at the centre of everything we do, we are confident that our products 'speak' for themselves. Here you will find out about the materials used to manufacture our product range.
You won't find any of the yarns we use in your local haberdashery because they are specialist yarns custom made for us. We use are 100% synthetic, and for very good reason. Natural fibers break up, filaments split, and can quickly begin to fray. Our yarn stands the test of time and many of our original mallets are still in use and as good as the day they were made.
Rattan is the generic name of approximately 600 species of climbing plants existing in only a few parts of the world, mostly South East Asia. Growing at an average 4 inches per day, it is also one of the fastest thriving plants in the world. Our rattan is supplied from trusted farmers and selected for its strength, straightness and colour. Over the course of time rattan may bend slightly, this is natural and cannot be prevented by any manufacturer, it is after all a natural product.
Our birch and maple handles are sourced exclusively from North America. Our handles are straight, strong and smooth and joint free!
The heads of our mallets are threaded in order to add a mechanical bond between head and handle. This extra step strengthens the bond and significantly reduces the risk of a mallet head flying off! To date, this has never happened!
Our pursuit to find the right glue took over two years. Bonding mallet heads to mallet handles is of paramount importance and something we take very seriously. For this reason we use aerospace technology glue and have found one which offers impact resistance and incredible bonded strength - two components vital to our needs. To this day we've not had a single pair returned to us because of a head becoming loose or flying off!
